Berthas Revenge Gin is an Irish Small Batch Milk Gin using whey alcohol from local dairy farmers in Cork. Together with natural well water and an interesting mix of locally foraged and grown botanicals, Berthas Revenge is a hand-crafted gin that highlights the character of Bertha in her prime.
Whey alcohol was chosen for its unique properties and qualities. These were discovered very early on in the development process to carry spice beautifully.
Piquancy flicks at the nostrils and the cardamom pops alongside a peppery tingle. This carries through to the taste; the gin is sweet at the fore the liquorice and sweet woodruf makes themselves known but theres also a creamy (dare we say milky) taste, which must come from the base alcohol itself.
Bertha, or Big Bertha as she was known, was a legendary Droimeann cow. Reared locally, she was bought as a calf by a farmer called Jerome OLeary. She lived to be just 3 months shy of her 49th birthday. By this time she had become something of a local celebrity, giving birth to 39 calves. This had earned her an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. This fame saw Bertha became a regular at local fairs, and lead the annual St. Patricks Day parade in Sneem where she was engaged in raising money for local cancer relief charities.
