Marcos Lojo crafts classic, hand-harvested albarino from 20-40 year old vines located near the Arousa inlet in heart of the Salnes valley of Galicia, Riax Baixas. The shallow, well-drained soils from granite rock erosion gives acid to the sandy soils. The granite trellising is traditional and allows for airflow to mitigate humidity. The vineyard location, along with soil composition, give depth and salinity to these wines.
Grape Varietals & Region:100% Albarino from the vineyards of Ancora & Pazo Pedreira in the Salnes Valley of Galicia, Spain. The vineyard was planted in 1962 on granite soils
Taste Profile: Straw yellow in color, with greenish hues. On the nose, the varietal characteristics are accentuated: balsamic, mineral, white flowers and stone fruit. On the palate it is elegant with good acidity and a rounded structure. It finishes long and slightly saline
Winemaking Process: The fruit was hand picked, and destemmed before a cold maceration for 12 hours. Fermentated in stainless steel vats, it is then barrel aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. During this period, it undergoes 5 months of batonnage to create creamy texture & body
