Employing natural-yeast fermentations, Lauers wines find their own balance. They tend to be more textural, deeper and more broad-shouldered. Yet they have a preternatural sense of balance, an energy that is singular. Yet the hallmarks of the Saar are there: purity, precision, rigor, mineral.

Grape Varietals & Region: Grandfather Peter Lauer I (1906-1991) used to enjoy a bottle of Riesling every day.It smelled wonderful, tasted dry but well balanced with a hint of fruit on the tongue. Every year he chose a barrel from the Ayler Kupp. He placed particular emphasis on a single wine for all his guests, which both the dry drinker liked and the lover of fruity drops delighted. As a tribute to this famous senior wine, we vinify a worthy successor every year that the grandfather should taste.

Taste Profile: Aromatic, juicy, vibrantly fine, your all rounder white. Present on the nose are aromas of green apple and citrus twang. Barely off-dry and textured, the palate oozes flavors of lemon, wet slate, green apple skin, and white flowers. This is one of the estates greatest value and so will it be amongst your wine stash.
