Pioneers of biodynamic winegrowing in Austria, with roots in the region of Wagram, the younger generation is now running the show. They focus on Grner Veltliner and Riesling, from classic to single vineyards and orange.
Hans and Paula Diwald grew up in the 1960s, both on a farm. In 1972, they took over the business and restructured it. Since 1976, they have become true pioneers by endeavouring something unthinkable: converting to biodynamic farming practices. Back then there was no official certification yet, only a handful of kindred spirits. Paula and Hans used to be on the receiving end of condescending smiles, but today they are considered among the pioneers of a whole movement.
Grape Varietals & Region:Zweigelt with 10-15% of Pinot Noir from Wagram, Austria
Taste Profile:A wine that offers a lot of fruitiness and crisp acidity, but also a bit of body. This is not an early drinking wine, but a ros that can also mature for 1 2 years. On the palate, it shows abundant cherry notes (from the Zweigelt) and good tension (from the Pinot Noir)
Winemaking Process: Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks
