Adi Badenhorst has been described as many things, but near the top of the list is always farmer, winemaker and parrot breeder. The Papegaai dry red (for lack of a better classification) brings together those three things in one story and one bottle.
The grapes come from both Adi’s farm and his neighbours excellent fruit. Most vines are mountain-sloped bush vines. We maintain that high-quality fruit comes from old un-irrigated bush vines grown on a variety of granite soils that are naturally low yielding. The wine is mainly from the Cinsault variety, along with a little bit of everything else grown on the farm.
