It features Texas-grown and malted barley aged in refill oak alongside Scottish Golden Promise malted barley. We’ve infused what we’ve learned from the centuries old single malt traditions that have long been an inspiration to us. Together, these elements are refined through maturation under the intense climate of Texas.

In 2008, Balcones was nothing more than an idea driven by a passion to create something original and authentic, right here in the Heart of Texas. It all started in an old welding shop under a bridge in Waco. For the next year, we replaced the roofing, knocked out walls, laid brick, cut pipes, installed copper pot stills from Portugal, and shoehorned a whisky distillery inside that quaint building. Proud of what we had accomplished on our own, we began distilling in 2009.

INGREDIENTS
1 oz Balcones Lineage Texas Single Malt Whisky
oz Pecan Orgeat
oz Lemon Juice
Pinch of salt
Garnish: Mint Sprig & Smoldering Pecan Wood Chip
RECIPE
Add all ingredients into a tin and shake with ice. Strain into a double rocks glass and top with pebble ice. Add straw and garnish with mint bouquet and smoldering wood chip.
NOSE
Sweet and indulgent, sourdough starter and cream soda, mulled cider, bruised bananas and peaches
TASTE
Caramelized sweetness, soft oak, manuka honey, chestnuts and hint of red wine reduction
FINISH
Warm engaging notes of pineapple upside down cake and creamy Vietnamese tea linger on a soft finish
