Domaine Bessin-Tremblay based in La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne just north of Chablis farms sustainably with organic-leaning practices. La Fourchaume is a prized right-bank Premier Cru of Kimmeridgian limestone and marl with sunny south-westerly exposures that ripen Chardonnay beautifully. The warm, benevolent 2022 vintage delivered healthy fruit, fine balance and classic Chablis tension and salinity.
The Chablis 1er Cru La Fourchaume 2022 was hand-harvested, gently pneumatic-pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks with a portion aged in old oak. It matured for 1518 months on fine lees (minimal new oak), building texture. Expect citrus, green apple, white flowers and flinty oyster-shell minerality. Superb with oysters, shellfish, grilled sole, goats cheese or roast chicken.
