Bodegas Chaves is a family-owned winery that has been a pioneer of Albario wines from the Ras Baixas region for generations.
Located in the Val do Salns subregion, the heart of Albario production, the winery is committed to creating wines that reflect the essence of the Atlantic terroir. Their vineyards are situated near the ocean, where the salty sea breeze, sunny days, and mineral soils combine to produce wines with refreshing acidity, depth, and a distinctive minerality.
Grape Varietals & Region:100% Albarino from the Val de Salnes subregion of Riax Baixas in Galicia, Spain.
The Castel de Fornos Albario is named after Bodegas Chaves’s first vineyard, located on the slopes of Fornos. This vineyard, with vines over 70 years old, is considered a fertile ground for growing the finest Albario grapes
Taste Profile:A fresh, fruity wine with aromas of pineapple, mango and citrus, lively acidity and a subtle saltiness, perfectly balanced and ideal with shellfish
Winemaking Process:The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and transported in small crates to the cellar. There, they are fermented at a controlled temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Only the juice from the first pressing is used.
The wine is then aged for three months on the lees, which gives it additional complexity and creaminess. The wine is then stored in stainless steel tanks for another three months before being bottled
