Michael Cooper has lived in Spain since he was 23 years old and has made wines in several wine regions, especially in Aragn: in Somontano, Cariena and especially in Campo de Borja where he has built his own winery and collaborates closely with others in the appellation. It is precisely in Campo de Borja where he is developing his project Los ngeles, a name that comes from the genesis of the city where he went to university and 2 close grape grower friends of his named ngel and that he feels blessed to have the opportunity to grow wines.
Currently his vineyards are in organic conversion and are cared for with biodynamic preparations. All the wines of the Los Angeles line follow the guidelines of Vins Mthode Nature. Michael’s creations are special as they reflect the delicate aromas and flavors of the unique terroirs, without interpositions and with a minimalist intervention that obeys his motto: clean, pure, energetic.
Grape Varietals & Region:Cruz Alta is the name of a Paraje or Lieu Dit or Cru in the foothills of the extinct volcano the Moncayo in the heart of Campo de Borja, Aragon, Spain. Its 100% Garnacha planted more than 35 years ago
Taste Profile: Brambly raspberries, red cherries and some baked fruit and peaches. Chewy and flavorful, with a medium to full body and a fruity finish.
Winemaking Process: The viticulture is organic and biodynamic. This follows the Vin mthode nature guidelines, which requires grapes from organic vineyards, manual harvesting, no inputs and no sulphite. Destemmed, not crushed. The wine is then made from free run juice, then fermented in stainless steel tanks.
