Maurice Gavignet Mersault 2023

Maurice Gavignet is a family-owned winery in Burgundy, France, with a history spanning four generations. Founded by Honor Gavignet in Nuits Saint Georges, he was born in 1879 and worked at the Domaine de la Romane-Conti until 1920 before settling in Nuits-St-Georges.

Today, the domaine continues to be known for its Pinot Noir wines, particularly those from the Cte de Nuits region. Over the last decade, the Domaine has grown with vineyards on the Cte de Beaune at Monthelie, Santenay, Savigny les Beaune and Pommard. This is how the Domaine becomes one of the pearls of the Cte d’Orien vineyard.

Grape Varietals & Region:100% Chardonnay from Mersault appellation in Burgundy, France. The vines are on average 35 years of age, and planted on clay & limestone soils with a subsoil of limestone rock.

Taste Profile:Aromas of lemon zest & pepper. On the palate, a mineral backbone with notes of citrus & lime with an incredible balance

Winemaking Process:The fruit is handpicked & undergo a direct press. From there, spontaneous fermentation with 100% malolactic fermentation occurs, and the wine spends 12 months maturing on lees in oak before being transferred to vats for bottling
