Newton Johnson Family Pinot Noir 2022

Grape Varietals & Region:100% Pinot Noir from the Upper Hemel-En-Aarde Valley, South Africa. The vineyards are planted on decomposed granite over iron-rich clay subsoil. Fine textured gravel to coarse fragments onthe uppermost slopes and broken up claystone in places.

This wine represents the soil of the entire farm. The fine-textured Granite translates into adelicately structured wine, every bit as intense as Pinot Noir at its authentic best: Seductive,soft handed and persistent.

Taste Profile:Layered and dense fruit of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and Turkish delightalludes to the varied vineyard parcels. The fresh, dewy lift and full sweet violets on the noseconveys the clarity of Mrs. M vineyard in Granite soil. The broad, chewy texture engulfs thepalate; framed by the thicker tannins of Windansea vineyard; leaching soft spices ofcinnamon, clove and fennel in the finish

Winemaking Process:The fruit is partially whole cluster & partially destemmed, fermented without crushing, undergoing spontaneous fermentation fermentation. The wine is left on skins for 25 days, and undergoes malolactic fermentation. Following which, it is matured in barrel on it’s lees for 11 months, before another 5 months of maturation in stainless steel
