In 2015, their second vintage, they embarked on a venture they had initially deemed unlikely – the production of red wine, specifically Pinot Noir. This blend originates from the esteemed Bien Nacido Vineyard and Solomon Hills Vineyard within the Santa Maria Valley AVA, hence its succinct name: ‘SMV’. Having previously worked with these two vineyards for Chardonnay since 2013, they now present Pinot Noirs designed for aging, yet accessible for enjoyment later in the year or over a few days if decanted.
