Riesling is often considered the noble grape of the Alsace region, and the Ruhlmann Family has been producing it for 3 and half centuries. This superb Riesling balances the acid, sugar and fruit harmoniously. Not an easy trick but when youve been doing it for this long, it comes a little more naturally. Just one taste of this Cuve Jean-Charles 2018, we knew it had to be a Popsy & JJ!
On the nose, we found some citrus and pear, and perhaps a trace of pineapple. More citrus on the palate with that characteristic Alsace raciness but not too racy and the acid kept nicely in check. It also lingers for quite some time. Bloody tops we thought! And a few other expletives we werent able to publish!
We felt compelled to try this one with an Indian fish curry (click for recipe). What a superb match. This wine however is very versatile, and you should check out our other food match tips. Pour into an aromatic glass and you wont be disappointed. You wont have the discipline to cellar this wine so lets not talk about it. But hypothetically, if you accidentally left one on the shelf of your cellar, it would certainly develop for a bunch of years to come.
