Tornatore Etna Bianco Contrada Pietrarizzo 2022

Grape Varietal & Region: Carricante and a small percentage of Catarratto.The grapes come from Tornatore’s vineyards inthe municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, onthe northern side of Mount Etna. The vines are arranged in terraces, growing in deep and very fertile volcanic soils.The climate is characterised by mild temperatures, reflecting the influence of the mountain reliefs from that side (Nebrodi).The result is a late maturing environment and the predominant altitude promotes strong thermal excursions.

Taste Profile:Tornatore Etna Bianco Contrada Pietrarizzo has a rich and pleasant nose of grapefruit and white peaches. The aromas follow through to a savoury, fresh and fruit medium-bodied palate. The freshness and flavour of the wine is beautifully complemented by an extraordinary minerality and light sweetness on the finish.

Winemaking Process: Manual harvesting of the grapesin small crates. The fruit is quickly brought to the winery where they go through manual selectionon a belt conveyor. Destemming and slight crushing of the fruit before they are sent to the vertical pressfor gentle pressing. Clarification of the must at low temperatures,then it isleft to ferment at 1516C in wooden barrels of 50 hectoliters. After fermentation, the wine rests on lees for 5 months before bottling and bottle ageing for 3 months.
