Pioneers of biodynamic winegrowing in Austria, with roots in the region of Wagram, the younger generation is now running the show. They focus on Grner Veltliner and Riesling, from classic to single vineyards and orange.

Hans and Paula Diwald grew up in the 1960s, both on a farm. In 1972, they took over the business and restructured it. Since 1976, they have become true pioneers by endeavouring something unthinkable: converting to biodynamic farming practices. Back then there was no official certification yet, only a handful of kindred spirits. Paula and Hans used to be on the receiving end of condescending smiles, but today they are considered among the pioneers of a whole movement.

Grape Varietals & Region:100% Gruner Veltliner from the Grand Cru vineyard of Goldberg in Wagram, Austria. Terraces and hills which slope towards the Danube Valley and mighty loess ground build the foundation for the Goldberg wines.

Taste Profile:Goldberg is the poster child for Veltliner. It always has something hearty about it: it gives us assertive but also charming wines. Spicy and ripe with a laid-back baroque character in warmer years. This complex, profound wine always offers excellent ageing potential!

Winemaking Process:Bunches are hand-picked mid-October and sorted manually before being pressed whole in order to retain finesse and elegance. A fermentation process which incorporates a small quantity of whole berries also provides length and a saline character
