Each year an unstoppable search for whiskey wonder beckons The Boss Hog to the far corners of the earth… a karmic quest that Knows No Bounds, beginning with Single Barrel Rye.
For this, our eleventh utterance of the mantra, WhistlePig’s whiskey makers journey to Rajasthan, India – the Land of Kings – in search of precious spices to forge the worlds first Thandai barrel aged Rye. An alluring elixir served in celebration of victory and creation, Thandai joins the shakti of Straight Rye Whiskey with a floral meditation of saffron, cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg, further enlivened by fennel, poppy and black peppercorn. The result is a splendid wellspring of strength and majesty; a saga befitting the maharajah of Rye.

OUR START
THE CHANCE DISCOVERY
WhistlePig began when we purchased our farm in 2007. After a few years of deep consideration and personal reflection we committed ourselves to crafting the worlds finest and most interesting Rye Whiskeys. With help from Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, we discovered and purchased an incredible stock of 10 year old blending Whiskey in Canada that was being profoundly misused. That initial stock, for which we are forever grateful, is what kicked off our grand adventure.

Have we learned anything since then that can make this better?
Is there another way to do this thats worth exploring?
More often than not the answer is theres always something worth exploring. We know the path forward isnt always a straight line. So we push ourselves to innovate and were reassured by our mistakes. Theyre what keep us great.
Nose
Traditional Indian spices, rye allspice, clove, black pepper.
Palate
Overripe orchard fruit, cardamom, saffron, fennel.
Finish
Waves of baking spice, soft sweetness, tropical fruit.

Created by Melissa Filgerleski. Stir and then strain in to a coup glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
